Anamul kept wickets behind the stumps seven times in ODIs and only one time in T20Is since he made his debut for Bangladesh in 2012. He kept wickets in U17 and U19 cricket. Now he keeps wickets behind the stumps regularly in domestic cricket. Anamul said to the reporters on Sunday that he wants to keep in Tests as well.
He said, “I kept wickets in U17, U19 cricket and even for national team. If Mushfiq bhai (Mushfiqur Rahim) does not keep wickets and I play Test matches, I may take the responsibility. I want to keep wickets in Tests for a long time. I want to be one of the best keepers.”
Anamul Haque was injured during ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. He did not return to ODI side till now, but played T20I in November. But he is confident of returning to upcoming England series and indicates of showing the fans a ‘New Anamul’.
“I am confident of returning to the team in England series. And the crowds will see a new Anamul if there’s a chance. It is very challenging facing England. They are a very strong side. They have strengths in batting, bowling and fielding. They are a champion team,” Anamul told.
He also added about his style of playing, “I tried my best to play my natural game in the Dhaka Premier League. I know that I have a problem when it comes to rotating the strike and I tried to do that as much as possible. If I continue improving this way, maybe I can stake my claim at some point.”
